31 May (HS): In accordance with the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath, an important meeting was held on Sunday under the
chairmanship of Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh at the Irrigation
Department headquarters with the aim of realizing the resolve of a developed
India and to disseminate the public welfare schemes and achievements of the
Irrigation and Water Resources Department to the public on a wide scale.
In
the meeting, Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh stated that under the
leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is rapidly progressing
toward the goal of a developed India. To achieve this goal, it is
essential that information about government-run schemes, achievements, and
public welfare programs reach every person in society. He stated that the
Irrigation and Water Resources Department is continuously working for
agricultural development, water security, expansion of irrigation facilities,
and prosperity of farmers in the state, and that disseminating these
achievements to the public is an important responsibility of all officials.
The
Water Power Minister directed that departmental public awareness programs be
launched starting June 5, along with the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
campaign. Under this initiative, foot marches, exhibitions, farmer dialogues,
meetings with public representatives, and public awareness programs should be
organized across the state from June 5 to June 21, 2026. Through these
programs, information about irrigation projects, government tube wells,
strengthening of the canal system, water conservation campaigns, groundwater
enrichment, modern irrigation techniques, and development work undertaken by
the department will be disseminated to the public and farmers.
State
Minister Dinesh Khatik, present in the meeting, directed the officials to
effectively present the department's major projects, infrastructure and
development works to the public, so that the general public can be aware of the
role and achievements of the department.
Minister
of State Ramkesh Nishad said that the irrigation facilities being provided to
the farmers through lift canal schemes and important achievements like
providing water to the tail of the canals should be especially conveyed to the
people, so that the farmers can get the real benefit of the schemes of the
department.
During
the meeting, Principal Secretary for Irrigation, Anil Garg, directed officials
to effectively utilize various communication channels to publicize departmental
achievements. He said that widespread awareness of the department's schemes
should be generated at the district level through farmer seminars, public
interaction programs, exhibitions, and other public relations activities.
In
the meeting, the department head and senior officials pledged to more
effectively communicate the department's plans and achievements to the public
and to continuously work in the interest of farmers, in order to realize the
vision of a developed India. Senior department officials and officials from the
districts were also present online on this occasion.
