
New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): Global markets are presenting mixed signals today. The US markets managed to close firmly higher during the previous trading session. Dow Jones Futures are also trading in positive territory at present. European markets, too, maintained a strong momentum throughout the previous session. Meanwhile, Asian markets are witnessing mixed trading today.
Optimism surrounding the possibility of peace in West Asia created a positive atmosphere in the US markets during the previous session, resulting in Wall Street indices closing firmly in the green. The S&P 500 Index surged by 0.37 percent to close at 7,473.47 points. Similarly, the Nasdaq ended the previous session at 26,343.97 points, registering a gain of 0.19 percent. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures are currently trading higher by 324.76 points, or 0.64 percent, at 50,904.46 points.
Like the US markets, European markets also witnessed sustained buying throughout the previous trading session. The FTSE Index closed 0.22 percent higher at 10,466.26 points. Similarly, the CAC Index jumped sharply by 172.26 points, or 2.09 percent, to end the session at 8,258.26 points. In addition, the DAX Index recorded a robust gain of 782.33 points, or 3.08 percent, to close at 25,389.10 points.
Asian markets are witnessing mixed trading today. Out of the nine major Asian markets, five indices are trading in the red with declines, while four indices are trading in the green with gains. The Kospi Index is witnessing strong upward momentum today and is currently trading at 8,106.70 points, up by 258.99 points or 3.30 percent. Similarly, the Hang Seng Index has climbed 147.97 points, or 0.57 percent, to reach 25,754 points. Apart from this, the SET Composite Index is trading higher by 0.49 percent at 1,557.99 points, while the Taiwan Weighted Index is trading marginally higher by 0.02 percent at 45,654.59 points.
On the other hand, Gift Nifty is trading lower by 97.50 points, or 0.40 percent, at 24,029.50 points. Likewise, the Straits Times Index has slipped 0.22 percent to 5,059.19 points. The Jakarta Composite Index is witnessing a sharp decline today and is currently down by 1.11 percent at 6,137.64 points. In addition, the Shanghai Composite Index has declined by 0.84 percent to 4,117.85 points, while the Nikkei Index is trading lower by 118.19 points, or 0.18 percent, at 65,040 points.
