Amritsar, 25 May (H.S.): Rumours regarding alleged firing outside renowned Bollywood actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s residence in Amritsar spread rapidly on social media on Monday, creating panic among residents and fans. However, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police later clarified that no such incident had taken place.

Police officials conducted a detailed verification after the rumours surfaced and confirmed that the claims were baseless. Authorities urged the public not to believe or circulate unverified information on social media.

The rumours gained momentum largely because Kapil Sharma’s Canada-based café, Kap’s Café, had been targeted in multiple shooting incidents over the past year. The café, located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, reportedly came under attack in July, August and October 2025.

According to reports, in the July 2025 incident, unidentified attackers allegedly fired nine rounds at the café. Alleged Khalistani separatist Harjeet Singh Laddi had reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

In another incident in August 2025, several bullet marks and shattered glass panes were discovered at the café premises. At that time, a viral social media post allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and gangster Goldy Dhillon claimed responsibility for the firing.

The café was reportedly targeted once again in October 2025, when another shooting incident was reported. Gangsters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including Goldy Dhillon, were again said to have claimed responsibility.

Amid the fresh rumours circulating in Amritsar, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar appealed to people to remain cautious and verify facts before sharing any information online. He emphasized that spreading unverified rumours can create unnecessary panic and disturb public order.

ACP West Kamaljit Aulakh also stated that the police thoroughly checked the matter and found no evidence of any firing outside Kapil Sharma’s residence. He urged residents to rely only on official updates issued by the police and administration.

The police have appealed to the public to act responsibly on social media and avoid forwarding rumours without confirmation.
