CEO Appeals to Voters to Extend Full Cooperation to BLOsChandigarh, 25 May (H.S.): Punjab has set a target of completing 90 percent pre-mapping of voters before the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Sharing this information, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, Anindita Mitra, said that more than 84 percent of voters in the state have already been successfully mapped during the ongoing pre-SIR exercise.

She informed that the Special Intensive Revision conducted in Punjab in 2003 is being used as the base for matching and verifying the existing voter lists. The exercise aims to ensure greater accuracy and transparency in the electoral rolls before the formal revision process begins.

Mitra further clarified that if any voter is not covered during the pre-mapping process, the concerned voter will still be required to fill the Enumeration Form (EF) provided by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) and submit it back to the BLO. After verification, the voter’s name will be included in the draft electoral roll.

The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to the voters across Punjab to actively participate in the SIR process and extend maximum cooperation to the BLOs carrying out the verification and mapping exercise on the ground.

She emphasized that public participation is essential for maintaining accurate voter records and ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process in the state.
