Jyoti Niketan Annual Day Celebrated with Grandeur and Inspiration
Prayagraj,
25 May (HS): The Annual Day Celebration of Divya Jyoti Niketan, a unit of
Nazareth Hospital Society, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and emotion at
the auditorium of St. Joseph's College. The programme showcased the
extraordinary talents, confidence, and achievements of visually impaired girls
studying at the institution.
The
event was presided over by Most Rev. Louis Mascarenhas, the Catholic Bishop of
Allahabad. The chief guests for the occasion were Harshvardhan Bajpai, the MLA
from Allahabad North. A large number of parents, Sisters, priests, staff
members, benefactors, and well-wishers including Rev. Msgr. Reginald D'Souza,
Rev. Fr. Vipin D'Souza and Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva were present for the
programme.
The
evening commenced with a graceful Prayer Dance followed by the traditional
lighting of the lamp. Through various cultural performances including Balloon
Dance, Dandiya Dance, Qawwali, Fusion Dance, Orchestra, Mahabharat Katha,
Rajasthani Dance, group songs, and meaningful skits like Dooriyan
and Karm Ka Phal, the divyang students mesmerized the audience with
their confidence, rhythm and artistic abilities.
A
documentary on the journey of Divya Jyoti Niketan highlighted how the
institution has transformed the lives of visually impaired girls through
education, emotional support, and confidence-building opportunities. The
audience responded with admiration and appreciation for the dedication of the
management and staff.
Addressing
the gathering, Harshvardhan Bajpai appreciated the courage and remarkable
talents of the visually impaired students. He stated that the programme proved
that physical limitations can never stop determined minds from achieving
success. He also praised Divya Jyoti Niketan for empowering children through
education and cultural development.
In
his presidential address, Bishop Louis Mascarenhas appreciated the efforts of
the Sisters, staff members, donors and well-wishers who continuously support
the mission of Divya Jyoti Niketan. He encouraged the students to move ahead in
life with faith, confidence and determination, reminding them that true vision
comes from the heart and mind.
The
programme also included the honouring of retired D Staff members of Nazareth
Hospital for their dedicated service. Special recognition was given to the
academic achievements of the students. Divyanshi, one of the first students of
the institution, secured 94% in Class X in ICSE 2026 from St. Joseph's Girls'
College, Mumfordganj while Moni scored 76%. Former student Ekta Singh, inspired
the audience by securing 92% in Class XII in CBSE 2026 from Jeevan Jyoti Higher
Secondary School, Varanasi. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of
thanks, honouring of students and Sisters, and the National Anthem. The Annual
Day celebration left the audience deeply inspired by the courage, determination
and talents of the visually impaired girls of Divya Jyoti Niketan.
