Prayagraj,
25 May (HS): The City and District Yamunapar Congress Committee workers staged
a massive protest and demonstration at the District Magistrate office regarding
the gang rape of a Dalit student from Mahoba in Prayagraj, severe electricity
cuts across the district and the state, and alleged exploitation in the name of
prepaid smart meter arrangements. Congress workers reached the District
Magistrate office in the afternoon raising slogans such as “Stop atrocities
against Dalit students,” “Restore electricity arrangements in Prayagraj and and
whole State,” and “Stop recovery in the name of smart meters.”
During
the meeting, City President Fuzail Hashmi and Yamunapar District President
Ashok Patel accused the state government of being anti-people and misleading
the public through hollow claims. They stated that women and daughters are not
safe across the state, and incidents of kidnapping, rape, and atrocities are
occurring every four hours, while law and order has completely collapsed. They
demanded the immediate arrest of the accused in the Dalit student case, a
fast-track trial, and proper security arrangements for the victim.
Coordinator
Harikesh Tripathi warned that if the government does not take strong action on
these issues, Congress will launch a large-scale agitation. Later, a memorandum
addressed to Governor Anandiben Patel was submitted to the ADM City by the
presidents duo Ashok Singh Patel, Fuzail
