Kolkata, 20 May (H.S.) : The West Bengal government has forwarded a panel of three senior IAS officers to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the selection of the state’s next Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), officials said.

According to sources, the names of Neelam Meena, Tanmay Chakraborty, and Moumita Godara Basu have been sent to the Election Commission in New Delhi for consideration.

As per procedure, the panel will be reviewed by the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners, following which one officer will be selected as the next CEO of West Bengal.

The move comes after the current CEO Manoj Agarwal was appointed as the state Chief Secretary. Agarwal, a 1990-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, had assumed the role of CEO in March 2025. Prior to that, he served as Additional Chief Secretary in the state Fire and Emergency Services Department, and also held responsibilities in the Forest and Disaster Management departments.

Officials noted that the final appointment will be made by the Election Commission after completing its standard selection process, in accordance with established guidelines.
