Prayagraj,

20 May (HS): Under the aegis of ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research

(ICAR-IIVR), an awareness program on the topic of 'Balanced Fertilizer Use and

Organic Farming' was successfully organized in the Vikas Bhawan of Prayagraj

district under the National Fertilizer Awareness Campaign being run from

20-05-2026 in the presence of Chief Development Officer Harshika Singh. The

main objective of the program was to make farmers aware about the balanced use

of chemical fertilizers, the importance of organic alternatives and scientific

measures for soil health conservation.

Dr.

Jagesh Kumar Tiwari, Principal Scientist, and Dr. P. Karmakar, Senior

Scientist, were present on the occasion. Dr. N. Natarajan (SMS), Dr. S. Yadav,

and R.P. Singh from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj, also participated in

the program and provided technical guidance to the farmers. During the

programme, scientists gave detailed information to the farmers about the use of

organic fertilizer and its long-term benefits.

Dr.

Jagesh Kumar Tiwari gave important information to the farmers about the use of

Trichoderma and microorganism based bio-fertilizers and told that these

techniques are helpful in protecting the crops from diseases and increasing

production. Dr. P. Karmakar, Senior Scientist, while motivating the farmers for

balanced and judicious use of fertilizers, said that dependence only on

chemical fertilizers can be harmful for soil health, hence it is necessary to

adopt integrated nutrient management.

Experts

from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj also provided information to the farmers

about the practical methods of use of local resources, organic fertilizer

production and agricultural waste management. Also, the method of soil testing

and taking soil samples was shared with the farmers. At the end of the program,

a farmer-scientist dialogue session was held, in which farmers' queries were

addressed. The farmers present described these awareness programs as extremely

useful and expressed their expectation for similar events in the future.
