Guwahati, 20 May (HS): The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday approved a series of key decisions during a meeting held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora briefed the media on the outcomes of the meeting.
Among the major decisions, the Cabinet approved the draft address to be delivered by the Governor of Assam under Article 176(1) of the Constitution of India during the first session of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly scheduled for May 22.
The Cabinet also gave its approval for the notification and implementation of the Assam State Data Policy (ASDP) 2026, replacing the earlier Assam State Data Policy 2022. The new policy envisages the establishment of a Centre for Data Management (CDM) as the nodal agency for creating and managing a unified statewide data repository focused on Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.
According to the government, the policy mandates systematic data sharing among all departments to strengthen governance, improve citizen-centric services and encourage innovation through data-driven administration.-------------
