
New Delhi, 02 May (H.S.): The Central Government has appointed renowned lyricist, writer, and communications expert Prasoon Joshi as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati.
This information was conveyed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday.
Notably, former Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Sehgal had resigned from his position on December 4 last year, leaving the post vacant since then.
Rail, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated Prasoon Joshi on the appointment. He stated, Prasoon Joshi is known for his contributions to literature, advertising, and cinema.
Prasoon is an exceptional creative personality, renowned worldwide in advertising, literature, art, and cinema, yet his heart beats for India. The fragrance of our soil is embedded in his words, and his vision reflects the eternal essence of our culture. Under his leadership, Prasar Bharati will gain new energy, purpose, and creative vision.
Prior to this appointment, Prasoon Joshi served as Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) since August 2017, where he collaborated with all film industry stakeholders to strengthen film certification processes. Previously, he was CEO of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific (a McCann Erickson subsidiary). He has been a trustee of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts since 2016.
Prasar Bharati is India's public service broadcaster, providing news, education, and entertainment services nationwide through All India Radio and Doordarshan.
