NewDelhi, 02 May (H.S.): External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will be on an official visit to Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago from May 02 to May 10.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during this trip the Foreign Minister will meet the leadership of all three countries and hold discussions with his counterparts on the full spectrum of bilateral relations, as well as on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The objective of the External Affairs Minister’s visit is to maintain the momentum of India’s political engagements with Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago and to strengthen India’s long‑standing and friendly relations with these countries, which reflect the mutual commitment to South‑South cooperation and development.

It is noteworthy that these countries share a special connection with India due to the presence of the Girmitiya community. The Foreign Minister is also expected to have bilateral meetings and interactions with prominent business leaders and members of the Indian community in these countries.
