
New Delhi, 02 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed happiness over the inauguration of the exhibition of the holy relics of Lord Buddha in Leh. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday, on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
The Prime Minister, posting on the social‑media platform X, shared photographs from the event and said that these sacred relics are associated with the Piprahwa Stupa at Kapilavastu and were recovered during excavations in the last years of the 19th century. He stated that these relics symbolise the teachings of Lord Gautama Buddha.
He informed that the exhibition will continue until May 14 and will later be taken to the Zanskar region as well.
According to the Prime Minister, this event provides a significant opportunity for the people of Ladakh to pay their homage. He added that the initiative will also give a major boost to spiritual and cultural tourism in Ladakh.
The Prime Minister wrote, “It is a matter of great joy that yesterday, on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the exhibition of the holy relics of Tathagata was inaugurated in Leh. These venerated relics are linked to the Piprahwa Stupa at Kapilavastu and were discovered during excavations in the final years of the 19th century. They are a symbol of the eternal teachings of Lord Buddha. This exhibition will continue until May 14.
In the coming days, it will also travel to Zanskar. This will provide the people of the entire Ladakh region with a priceless opportunity to offer their respects and devotion. It will also further promote spiritual and cultural tourism in Ladakh.”
