New Delhi, May 19 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Kristrún Frostadóttir on the sidelines of the third India-Nordic Summit held in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The two leaders held extensive discussions on various aspects of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the discussions focused on areas such as geothermal and renewable energy, fisheries, trade and investment, innovation, digital technology, the creative economy, Arctic cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people ties.

Both sides also discussed opportunities emerging from the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). In addition, the two leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues.

Prime Minister Modi later described the meeting as “excellent” in a social media post and said that India attaches great importance to its friendship with Iceland.

He stated that both countries discussed ways to deepen cooperation in sectors including clean energy, fisheries, sustainable development, geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage.

The Prime Minister also praised Iceland’s expertise in areas related to the blue economy and expressed confidence that the landmark India-EFTA TEPA agreement would provide fresh momentum to trade and investment ties between the two nations.
