Kolkata, 18 May (H.S.) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday summoned former South Dum Dum Municipality chairman Pachu Roy for questioning in connection with the municipal recruitment corruption case.

Pachu Roy appeared at the ED office in the CGO Complex at Salt Lake on Monday morning, where officials began interrogating him over alleged irregularities in municipal appointments, sources said.

According to agency sources, Roy may also be confronted with former West Bengal minister Sujit Bose, who was recently arrested by the ED in the same case and is currently in the agency’s custody.

Sujit Bose’s name reportedly surfaced during the investigation into recruitment irregularities at the South Dum Dum Municipality. The ED has alleged that recommendations were made for nearly 150 candidates to secure illegal appointments in the civic body. The central agency further claims that undue benefits were received in exchange for recommending those names.

Notably, Sujit Bose had also been summoned to the CGO Complex last Monday in connection with the probe. After nearly ten-and-a-half hours of interrogation, ED officials arrested him late at night. A court later remanded him to 10 days of ED custody.

Meanwhile, Pachu Roy’s name has also appeared in the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the municipal recruitment scam case. He had earlier been summoned multiple times by the ED and had appeared before investigators during previous phases of the probe.

However, Roy has consistently denied all allegations. In the past, he claimed that he had not accepted money from anyone and alleged that he was being “harassed” by the investigating agencies.
