Gorakhpur,
16 May (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while performing the
groundbreaking ceremony and laying the foundation stone for the International
Cricket Stadium in Gorakhpur on Saturday, also made a major announcement in the
interest of sports and athletes. He announced that a world-class sports complex
will be built on 60 acres of land reserved adjacent to the International
Cricket Stadium.
On
Saturday, in the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep
Singh Puri, after performing the Bhoomi Pujan and laying the foundation stone
of the International Cricket Stadium to be built at a cost of about Rs 393
crore in Tal Nador, Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing
the gathering, said that not only will an International Cricket Stadium with a
capacity of 30 thousand spectators be built on 46 acres of land, but a sports
complex will also be built on the adjacent 60 acres of land. Facilities for all
types of indoor games will be made available in it. Hockey and other outdoor
games will also be played here. Yogi said that with the construction of
International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex, a new chain of hotels,
restaurants, markets will also be created in this area and a large number of
new jobs will also be created.
Discussing
the developmental changes taking place in the Tal Nador area, the Chief
Minister said that five years ago, this area was barren. It was neglected, and
anyone who desired could encroach upon the land. Now, the land is free of
encroachment. Furthermore, the double-engine government is providing an
excellent platform for young people to carve their futures on this land. He
described the International Cricket Stadium as an excellent gift for realizing
the dreams of the youth and future generations.
Chief
Minister Yogi said that his government has made the state mafia-free,
goon-free, riot-free, and curfew-free. This is propelling the state forward on
the path of development. He said that when development occurs, employment is
created spontaneously. The Chief Minister warned the people that those who
divide people on the basis of caste, language, and region cannot be your
well-wishers. Whenever they came to power, they indulged in hooliganism,
anarchy, and chaos. They misused power for their families, never for the public
good. However, today's double-engine government is working for the welfare of
the common people and for employment generation.
The
Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
a new sports culture has been fostered through Khelo India, the Fit India
Movement, and the Members of Parliament's Sports Competition. As a result,
India's participation and medal count have increased in the Olympics, Asian
Games, Commonwealth Games, and world-class competitions. He stated that
providing infrastructure to athletes is the government's responsibility, and
the government is fulfilling this responsibility effectively. With these
facilities, today's athletes are fulfilling Prime Minister Modi's vision. The
Chief Minister stated that the government is developing sports grounds in every
village, mini-stadiums at the block level, stadiums at the district level, and
sports colleges at the divisional level. A sports university has been
established in Meerut, and its grand inauguration ceremony is scheduled for
this session.
He
said that the journey to Varanasi via the Gorakhpur-Varanasi route, where this
international cricket stadium is being built, used to take four to five hours.
Now, it takes only two and a half hours. Similarly, the journey from Gorakhpur
to Lucknow has been reduced from eight hours to three and a half hours. Welcoming
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at the event, Yogi
said that the country and the world are grappling with the crisis in West Asia.
Many countries are in turmoil. Petroleum prices are skyrocketing. There is
chaos and instability in many countries around the world. He said that under
these circumstances, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri,
under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has demonstrated excellent
management within India. While the oil companies have been burdened, they have
consistently provided relief to the general public amid the crisis. The Chief
Minister expressed his gratitude to the Petroleum Minister, Indian Oil, Bharat
Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum for providing Rs. 100 crore from their CSR
funds for the construction of the international cricket stadium in Gorakhpur.
