
New Delhi, 01 May (H.S.): Bilateral trade between India and Tanzania crossed the $9 billion mark in the financial year 2025-26, reflecting the rapid growth in economic ties between the two countries.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the fifth session of the India-Tanzania Joint Trade Committee (JTC), held in Dar es Salaam on April 29-30, concluded with a review of progress made since the previous session held in New Delhi in August 2017.
The ministry said that India and Tanzania reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. It added that trade between the two countries crossed the $9 billion mark in FY 2025-26, with both sides emphasizing the need to deepen the economic partnership further.
The fifth session of the India-Tanzania Joint Trade Committee was co-chaired by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and Dr. Samwel William Shelukindo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, United Republic of Tanzania.
During the session, the progress made since the fourth session in New Delhi in August 2017 was reviewed, and both sides reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation.
