Prominent political figures, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, extended heartfelt greetings on Thursday to mark the Prakash Purb—the birth anniversary—of Sikhism’s fifth Guru, Arjan Dev. Their tributes underscored the Guru’s enduring legacy of sacrifice, tolerance, and unwavering commitment to faith amid persecution.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid homage via a post on X, bowing to Guru Arjan Dev on this sacred occasion. “Guru Sahib’s life, offered in sacrifice for truth, righteousness, and humanity, continues to inspire us with lessons in selflessness, forbearance, love, and human welfare,” Birla wrote, emphasizing the timeless relevance of the Guru’s ideals.

Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the Guru’s resilience against Mughal tormentors. “Enduring untold atrocities, Guru Arjan Dev chose martyrdom over conversion, setting an exemplary standard for safeguarding Swadharma and indigenous culture,” Shah stated.

He highlighted the Guru’s pivotal role in compiling the Adi Granth (precursor to Guru Granth Sahib) and constructing the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), which propelled Sikhism’s dissemination. “His life inspires steadfastness against injustice, tyranny, and adherence to dharma, ethics, and spirituality,” Shah added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered reverence, crediting Guru Arjan Dev with universalizing Sikhism. “Through the compilation of Guru Granth Sahib, he made an indelible contribution. Sacrificing his life for cultural preservation, his existence exemplifies generosity, sacrifice, and valor,” Singh noted.

“Heartiest greetings to all on Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Prakash Purb.”

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan prostrated before the Guru, whose life was devoted to dharma’s defense and humanity’s upliftment. “His noble thoughts, teachings, and precepts will eternally guide us toward righteousness and selfless service,” Chouhan affirmed.

Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal described Guru Arjan Dev’s life as an emblem of service, sacrifice, and human welfare. “His ideals perpetually motivate us to tread firmly on the path of truth, tolerance, and religious devotion.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav invoked the Guru’s inspiration in sacrifice, service, dedication, and tolerance as a global beacon. “Your message of humanity, brotherhood, and truth charts a new course for society.”

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conveyed warm wishes, portraying the Guru’s life as an unparalleled inspiration in sacrifice, unyielding faith, and humanitarian service. “Via the Adi Granth Sahib’s compilation and Harmandir Sahib’s construction, he illuminated the world with peace and harmony. His profound teachings and universal benevolence shall forever guide us.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hailed Guru Arjan Dev as a paragon of dharma, humanity, and duty. “His life stands as a singular exemplar of service, devotion, sacrifice, and resolute faith in truth. His divine teachings will eternally light our path.”

These messages resonate deeply on Prakash Purb, commemorating Guru Arjan Dev (1563–1606), who endured boiling cauldrons and scorching sands under Emperor Jahangir before his martyrdom, solidifying Sikhism’s ethos of resilience.
