Barpeta, 08 April (HS): Allegations have surfaced regarding the arrival of groups of individuals, reportedly unfamiliar with the Assamese language, in parts of Barpeta district ahead of polling. Reports claim that such groups have been seen in areas including Chenga, Kalagachia and Mandia.
According to local sources, a significant number of people have arrived in these regions, raising concerns among residents about their identity and purpose. It has been alleged that many among them do not speak Assamese, leading to speculation about their involvement in the electoral process.
At Barpeta Road Railway Station, heavy crowding was reported, with commuters facing difficulty navigating through the premises due to the sudden surge in the number of people.
However, no official confirmation or statement has been issued by the district administration or election authorities regarding these claims so far.------------
