approves new private university to boost higher education
'Metro University' to be built on 26.1 acres, youth to get opportunity of
modern and employment-oriented education: Higher Education Minister Yogendra

Lucknow, 7 April (HS): A cabinet
meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday approved a significant
proposal related to the Higher Education Department. This included the
establishment of a private-sector Metro University in Greater
Noida, which is considered a significant step towards expanding higher
education in the state.
State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya stated that this decision
was made under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act,
2019. He explained that the Act ensures proper arrangements for the
establishment, regulation, and operation of private universities.
He informed that the sponsoring organization, Sunhill Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.,
Noida, had submitted a proposal to establish 'Metro University' on 26.1 acres
of land allotted by the Greater Noida Authority, which has been approved after
examination in accordance with legal provisions. For this, it has been decided
to amend the schedule of the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019,
promulgate the 'Uttar Pradesh Private University (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026'
and issue an operating authority letter to the sponsoring organization.
The Higher Education Minister stated that the establishment of this university
will create new opportunities for quality higher education in the state and
provide modern and employment-oriented education to the youth. This initiative
will play a significant role in making the state a leader in the field of
education.
He said that the Yogi government is committed to expanding higher education,
enhancing quality, and encouraging private investment. The establishment of new
universities will increase education, employment, and skill development
opportunities in the state.
