Hooghly, 07 April (H.S.): Trinamool Congress candidate Mita Bag has intensified her election campaign in the Arambagh Assembly constituency, projecting herself as the “daughter of the soil.” On Tuesday, she was seen campaigning in the Kotpara area of Ward No. 4 under Arambagh Municipality, interacting with locals along with party workers and supporters. She was also seen smeared in green abir during the outreach.
Bag said that her use of green abir reflects her confidence of victory. However, a section of political observers believes that such visible confidence could also be seen as overconfidence, potentially becoming a concern in the future.
Notably, former police officer Sukamal Das was earlier nominated as a candidate from the Amjanata Unnayan Party in the Arambagh constituency but withdrew his candidature within a few days. While this has provided some relief to the Trinamool Congress, sections within the party believe that the Congress candidate could still pose a challenge.
Responding to the situation, Mita Bag said that people will vote in favour of development. She expressed confidence that the opposition will not have a significant impact on the results and that the Trinamool Congress will emerge victorious.
