historic increase in the honorarium of Shikshamitras and part-time instructors.

This decision will directly benefit millions of state education workers and

further strengthen the education system.

Announcing the cabinet decision, Minister of State

for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh said that the honorarium

for Shikshamitras, which was set at Rs. 10,000 in 2017, has now been increased

to Rs. 18,000 per month. Similarly, the honorarium for part-time instructors

has been increased from Rs. 9,000

to Rs. 17,000 per

month. This increased honorarium will be effective April 1, 2026, and will be

included in the payment due in May.

He informed that currently there are 1,42,929

Shiksha Mitras working in the state, out of which the honorarium of 1,29,332

Shiksha Mitras has been received till now in the 60:40 ratio from the Central

and State Governments under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

As a result of the

honorarium hike, the additional expenditure of Rs 1138.12 crore will be borne

by the State Government. The State Government will also bear the additional

expenditure burden of Rs 119.65 crore for the remaining 13,597 Shiksha Mitras,

whose payment is entirely made by the State Government.

Sandeep Singh stated that 24,717 part-time

instructors are currently employed in 13,769 upper primary schools in the

these instructors, and the state government will bear the additional

expenditure of Rs 217.50 crore. He said that the

Yogi government is sensitive to the interests of workers in the education

sector and is constantly striving for their economic empowerment. This decision

will not only improve the living standards of Shikshamitras and part-time
