Hooghly, 07 April (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Singur Assembly constituency, Arup Kumar Das, filed his nomination in a unique style on Tuesday. He reached the nomination centre riding a car decorated with 108 lotus flowers, accompanied by a large number of supporters.

During the procession, the BJP candidate was seen at times in an open-hood vehicle and at other times riding a chariot. A huge crowd of party workers and supporters accompanied him. He also carried out public outreach along the route, holding lotus flowers in his hands.

Speaking to the media, Arup Kumar Das said that the number 108 holds special significance in Indian culture. He stated that during ‘Asur Bodhan’, deities used 108 lotus flowers, which symbolizes Indian tradition and faith. This, he said, was the reason behind decorating his vehicle with 108 lotus flowers.
