Hooghly, 07 April (H.S.): With a resolve for political change in West Bengal, candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday filed their nominations in Serampore of Hooghly district amid massive shows of strength. Party nominees from various Assembly constituencies reached the nomination centre with rallies, slogans and large gatherings of supporters.

From the Serampore Assembly seat, BJP candidate Bhaskar Bhattacharya took out a massive rally from Bagkhal in Rishra and reached the Serampore Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office to file his nomination. Speaking to the media, he said the large turnout clearly indicates that the BJP will secure a decisive victory in Serampore. He asserted that political change in the state is certain and people will soon experience BJP’s governance. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also present during his nomination.

From Jangipara, BJP candidate Prasenjit Bag arrived on a tractor to file his nomination, accompanied by a large number of supporters. He alleged that the condition of farmers has deteriorated under the Trinamool Congress rule and, identifying himself as a farmer’s son, expressed confidence of a massive BJP victory in the constituency.

Chanditala Assembly constituency candidate Debashish Mukherjee also filed his nomination at the Serampore SDO office along with supporters. He expressed confidence that after the counting of votes on May four, the Trinamool Congress government will be ousted. He also cited public resentment against the sitting MLA.

From Uttarpara, BJP candidate Dipanjan Chakraborty filed his nomination amid a huge gathering. He said people are seeking change and are dissatisfied with the Trinamool Congress government, expressing confidence that BJP will win both in Uttarpara and across the state.

From Champdani, BJP candidate Dilip Singh also filed his nomination. He had lost the previous election to Trinamool Congress candidate Arindam Guin, but expressed full confidence of victory this time.

Political activities remained intense throughout the day in Serampore, with large crowds of BJP supporters energising the election atmosphere. All candidates collectively expressed confidence in a change of power in the state and appealed to the people for support.
