
Guwahati, 06 April (HS): The total number of voters in five assembly constituencies of Kamrup Metropolitan district stands at 10,55,288 for the insuing Assam Assembly Elections 2026, according to an official statement issued by the District Election Office on Monday.
The five constituencies—33 No. Dispur, 34 No. Dimoria, 35 No. New Guwahati, 36 No. Guwahati Central and 37 No. Jalukbari—together comprise 5,07,857 male voters, 5,47,400 female voters and 31 third gender voters.
In Dispur constituency, out of a total of 2,44,725 voters, 1,17,771 are male, 1,26,943 female and 11 belong to the third gender. Dimoria has 2,18,158 voters, including 1,05,966 male, 1,12,185 female and 7 third gender voters. New Guwahati constituency has 1,92,148 voters, comprising 91,592 male, 1,00,552 female and 4 third gender voters.
Similarly, Guwahati Central has 1,92,615 voters, including 94,345 male, 98,268 female and 2 third gender voters, while Jalukbari constituency has 2,07,642 voters with 98,183 male, 1,09,452 female and 7 third gender voters.
A total of 1,218 polling stations have been set up across these five constituencies. Dispur will have 272 polling stations, Dimoria 262, New Guwahati 219, Guwahati Central 218 and Jalukbari 247. Each constituency will also feature one model polling station.
Notably, 120 polling stations across the district will be managed entirely by women. These include 21 in Dispur, 9 in Dimoria, 30 in New Guwahati, 39 in Guwahati Central and 21 in Jalukbari.
A total of 25 candidates are contesting from these five constituencies. Polling across the state is scheduled for April 9, while counting of votes will take place on May 4.
Across Assam, the total number of voters currently stands at 2,50,58,463, including 1,25,31,552 male voters, 1,25,22,593 female voters and 318 third gender voters. The electorate has increased by 96,324 following the publication of the final electoral roll on February 10.-----------
