Morigaon, 06 April (HS): A boat capsized in Assam’s Morigaon district on Monday morning, leaving three persons missing, police officials said.

The incident occurred near Bhajakhaiti Ghat on the Brahmaputra River in the Moirabari area when strong winds reportedly destabilized the vessel, causing it to overturn midstream. According to initial reports, around 15 passengers have been rescued so far.

Rescue operations are currently underway, with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and personnel from the Velloguri Police Station deployed at the site. However, the three missing individuals are yet to be traced.

Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to locate the missing persons. The boat was reportedly coming from a riverine ‘char’ area and capsized just before reaching the bank. A large number of locals gathered at the site soon after the incident and informed the police immediately.---------------
