Shiv Sena, NCP
finalise candidates
Nagpur, 30 Apr
(HS): Even on the last day of filing nominations for nine Legislative Council elections,
the problem with the Maha-Vikas Aghadi has not been resolved. With Uddhav
Balasaheb Thackeray Sena finalising Ambadas Danve’s name Congress, which is a
partner in MVA, is likely to field its candidate. UBT Sena had not consulted
its alliance partners before announcing Danve’s name.
Meanwhile, Nationalist
Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) has announced the name of Zishan Siddiqi as its
candidate for the lone seat the party is contesting. Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde)
also has announced the name of Bachhu Kadu. BJP had announced its candidates a
couple of day ago.
State Unit
President of Congress, Harshawardhan Sapkal said, Congress is compelled to
field its candidate as UBT announced Danve’s name unilaterally. He, however,
did not reveal the contestant to be named by Congress.
Congress leader
Vijay Wadettiwar also criticised UBT Sena for announcing Danve’s name without
consulting MVA partners and affirmed that Congress will field its candidate
separately.
BJP is fielding
Pramod Jathar (Sindhudurg), Vivek Kolhe (Ahityanagar), Sanjay Bhende (Nagpur,
Madhavi Naik and Sunil Karjatkar.
Meanwhile,
Congress MLC Pradnya Satav resigned and joined hands with BJP. She was elected
MLC unopposed following death of Congress MLC Sharad Ranpise. BJP had withdrawn
his candidate to allow Satav to get elected unopposed. BJP has fielded Pradnya
Satav only for the by-election as its candidate.
