Lucknow, April 30 (HS): Before the

start of the UP Assembly session on Thursday, MLAs from both the ruling and

opposition parties were seen protesting. Led by women BJP legislators, the MLAs

and ministers arrived at the Assembly. They held placards bearing slogans such

as, India will not tolerate the disrespect of women. The whole country is

watching the intricacies of the Indi alliance.

The Assembly session has been convened to discuss women's empowerment. Before

the House proceedings began at 11 a.m., ministers, MLAs, and other leaders of

the Yogi government arrived holding placards in support of women's reservation.

They were shouting slogans against the Samajwadi Party and the Congress.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that the opposition is anti-women. In

the Samajwadi Party, women outside the family are not given any post. In the

Samajwadi Party, only Dimple Yadav is given important responsibilities. In the

Congress, only Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are promoted. The entire

country is watching this. Congress has celebrated by dropping the Mahila Nari

Vandan Bill in the Parliament. The opposition has expressed happiness. The

Bharatiya Janata Party is working to give women their rights. After the coming

of Prime Minister Modi at the Centre and Yogi government in UP, the respect of

women has increased. They are being given preference in government jobs. Today,

women are becoming entrepreneurs. Today, there will be a discussion on women

empowerment in the Assembly.

On the other hand, earlier, Samajwadi Party MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition

Mata Prasad Pandey, staged a sit-in in front of Chaudhary Charan Singh's

statue. Senior SP MLA and former minister Sangram Singh Yadav said that the BJP

is constantly lying. The Women's Reservation Bill was passed in Parliament in

2023. The Samajwadi Party is in favor of it. Why is the Modi government not

implementing that bill? It was passed by the country's cabinet. He said that

similarly, it was said about the caste census that the more participation one

has, the more one's share. The BJP is not conducting that either. The BJP has

fallen into a vicious circle of its own making. The SP is opposing it.

Participating in the demonstration, SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai requested the

urgent implementation of the women's reservation law, querying why the BJP is

neglecting to execute the statute, which was approved in 2023. He also asked

that the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections be held in

conformity with the requirements of the Women's Reservation Law. The Leader of

the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Lal Bihari Yadav, stated that the SP

is a fervent supporter of women's reservation. The Women's Reservation Bill was

passed by both Houses of Parliament in 2023. We have no objections to women's

reservations; rather, the BJP is deceiving the people under the pretext of

women's empowerment, Yadav said. SP MLA Kamal Akhtar also questioned why the

BJP is generating uncertainty on the topic, given that the women's reservation

law was unanimously passed by Parliament in 2023.
