Imphal, 30 April (HS): Security forces in Manipur have recovered a large cache of arms, explosives, drugs and communication equipment during the conducted operations in last 24 hours. According to the information given on Thursday the security forces in Khangtung village under Molcham Police Station in Chandel district recovered a large cache of arms, explosives and communication equipment.

According to officials, the recovered items include one 7.62 K-09 assault rifle with magazine, four single bore rifles, one Mauser-style sporting rifle, one shotgun, one sub-machine gun (SMG) with magazine, one pistol with magazine, four pompis, three grenades along with three detonators, five Baofeng radio sets, 28 rounds of ammunition of different calibers and five 12-gauge cartridges.

In a separate operation carried out in the Tengnoupal IVR area under Tengnoupal Police Station in Tengnoupal district, security forces seized narcotics and a vehicle. The items recovered include two soap cases of brown sugar weighing 0.078 grams, 10 plastic packets of WY tablets weighing 12 kilograms and one four-wheeler.

Meanwhile, security forces also arrested an arms smuggler identified as Khwairakpam Doren Singh (42), an active cadre of NRFM, from Upokpi Mayai Leikai under Bishnupur Police Station in Bishnupur district. A mobile phone along with a SIM card was seized from his possession.

Further investigation into the incidents is underway, officials added.-----------
