Barpeta (Assam), 03 April (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a major election rally in Barpeta on Friday, where he has extended greetings on the occasion of Rongali Bihu after offering prayers at Kamakhya Temple and highlighted Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
In his speech, Adityanath described Assam as a sacred land of culture and traditions, noting that it is the birthplace of legendary cultural icon Dr Bhupen Hazarika. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving due recognition to Bhupen Hazarika, as well as to Assam’s first Chief Minister Gopinath Bordoloi.
The BJP leader asserted that the party’s government has ensured good governance and strengthened security in the state. He alleged that the Congress had neglected Assam’s heritage, claiming it failed to protect places like Kaziranga and did not honour key figures such as Bhupen Hazarika.
Adityanath further accused the Congress of encouraging infiltration in Assam and said that both Congress and AIUDF have harmed Assamese culture. He emphasized that the “double engine” government is working to enhance security and development in the state.
Highlighting developments in Uttar Pradesh, he said that a long-standing dream of 500 years has been fulfilled and claimed that the state is now free from communal conflicts and curfews.
The rally was held in support of BJP candidate Deepak Kumar Das, for whom Adityanath campaigned extensively.-----------
