Gandhi's attempt to politicize educational campuses through publicity stunts

and a political agenda is condemnable: ABVP

Lucknow, April 27 (HS): The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad

(ABVP) strongly condemns the factually incorrect statements made by the Leader

of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, in the Gargi College incident. ABVP believes

that this is a malicious attempt to turn a sensitive issue concerning the

dignity and honor of a female student into a publicity stunt driven by a narrow

political agenda. The concerned student, who herself was a students’ union

election candidate, was merely seeking to ensure a fair and transparent

election process. However, when she raised her demand, she was abused verbally

and physically pushed out of the college by male staff members present there.

Instead of addressing this serious issue, distorting facts and presenting a

one-sided narrative not only undermines the truth but also deeply hurts the

dignity and struggle of the victim.

In recent days, in protest

against the misconduct faced by Pratishtha, a student of Gargi College, the

elected President of the Delhi University Students’ Union stood in support of

the victim at her request, in a democratic and peaceful manner. In such a

situation, misrepresenting facts and building a narrative based on selective

information is highly irresponsible.

Far from standing for women's

empowerment, Rahul Gandhi and his party have consistently opposed landmark

measures such as the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam,' thereby exposing their

entrenched anti-women stance. On the other hand, they are now attempting to

mislead and exploit female students to further a narrow political agenda. A

person occupying a constitutional position is expected to act with

responsibility and sensitivity; however, when the Leader of the Opposition is

driven by political prejudice, such expectations stand betrayed. In this

backdrop, it is imperative for the student community to remain united, alert,

and resolute in resisting any attempts to pollute academic spaces with such

divisive and misleading narratives.

his mockery of such sensitive matters, reflect his ideological bankruptcy,

political immaturity, and opportunistic selective sensitivity. ABVP reiterates

its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the dignity, security, and democratic

rights of female students. The Leader of the Opposition is expected to refrain

from polluting the academic environment with electoral opportunism and from

bringing his ideological bankruptcy into campuses.”
