Bhubaneswar, 27 April (H.S.): Police in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district have busted a fake B.Ed admission racket and arrested two individuals for allegedly duping more than 100 aspirants by promising seats in colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
The accused have been identified as Chittaranjan Barik and his associate Reema Barik from Sambalpur. Both were taken into custody following an investigation into the fraudulent operation.
According to police sources, the duo lured B.Ed aspirants by claiming they could secure admissions in institutions such as Seven Hills BEd College and Ramalakshmi College of Education through unofficial channels.
The accused allegedly collected between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000 from each candidate. Investigators revealed that the racket operated under the banner of One World Academy, an entity reportedly set up earlier by Barik along with his associates.
Police said that after his partners became inactive, Barik continued the operation independently. He is accused of misleading students by offering admissions to a non-existent distance-mode B.Ed course.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and possible links to a wider network.
