Bhubaneswar, 27 April (H.S.): The Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance on Monday busted an illegal sawmill operating in Kadampada village under the jurisdiction of 42 Mouza Police Station limits in Cuttack district.

Acting on a specific tip-off, the vigilance team conducted a raid on the unit, which was found to be running without a valid license. During the operation, officials seized sawmill machinery along with a substantial quantity of timber measuring 136.844 cubic feet.

The total value of the seized timber and equipment has been estimated at approximately ₹10.98 lakh. Authorities confirmed that both the machinery used in the illegal operations and the unlawfully procured timber have been taken into custody.

Officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the timber and identify those involved in the illegal activity.
