Second Interim Report on Lingaraj Temple Reforms Submitted to Odisha Law Minister


Bhubaneswar, 27 April (H.S.): The Sattvalipi (Record of Rights) Committee of Lingaraj Temple submitted its second interim report to Odisha's Law, Works, and Excise Minister, Prithviraj Harichandan, on Monday. The report outlines key proposals aimed at enhancing temple administration and rituals.

Chaired by Durga Prasanna Choudhury, the two-member committee, which includes member Prafulla Kumar Mishra, has presented approximately 16 significant recommendations designed to streamline temple management.

Among the proposals are measures to ensure disciplined and systematic conduct of rituals, renovation of the sanctum sanctorum and temple kitchen (Roshasala), improved lighting arrangements, and structured training programs for servitors. The report also addresses better management of the hundi and resolution of land-related issues. Furthermore, it recommends special provisions for the welfare of servitors and the appointment of a dedicated officer.

Minister Harichandan, upon receiving the report, stated that the state government would thoroughly review the recommendations and take necessary actions to ensure orderly rituals and improved facilities for servitors, temple functionaries, and devotees.

Senior officials present at the event included Law Department Principal Secretary Pabitra Mohan Samal and Additional Secretary Shiva Prasad Mahapatra.
