Nadia, 27 April (H.S.): Another tragic incident involving a migrant worker has surfaced in West Bengal ahead of the elections. After a recent case in Purbasthali, a 20-year-old migrant worker was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Gayeshpur, triggering concern in the area. He had returned home to cast his vote for the first time.

The deceased has been identified as Aniket Dey (20), a resident of Mogra in Hooghly district. He was working in Bengaluru and had recently come back to the state. He was staying at his maternal uncle’s house in Gayeshpur, Nadia.

According to family members, Aniket consumed alcohol with friends on Sunday night. After returning home, he reportedly had an argument with his family. He then left the house. On Monday morning, his body was found hanging behind the house.

On information, Kalyani police reached the spot and recovered the body. It was taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Kalyani, where doctors declared him dead. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the locality. Notably, this would have been Aniket’s first time voting.

Earlier on Saturday, a similar case was reported from Purbasthali, where another migrant worker was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The family alleged that he was brutally murdered. He had also returned to the state to vote. His body was recovered from a field with multiple injury marks, leading the family to suspect foul play.

With back-to-back incidents in Purba Sthali and Gayeshpur, concerns are rising over the safety and law-and-order situation ahead of the elections. Police have initiated investigations into both cases.
