
Nagpur, 27 April
(HS): The Vidarbha region in Maharashtra continued to reel under severe heat
conditions with Akola registering the highest temperature of the season at 46.9
degree Celsius, followed by Amravati at 46.8 degrees on Sunday. Wardha followed
closely at 46.4 degrees and Yavatmal – 46 degrees.
Nagpur too
remained in the grip of sweltering weather with the temperature soaring to 45.5
degrees. Chandrapur which is situated on underground coal registered the temperature
of 45 degree Celsiuss.
The temperatures
in other districts of Vidarbha was over 44 degrees – Bhandara – 44, Buldana –
43.5, Brahmapuri- - 44.2, Gadchiroli – 44.6, Gondia – 44.4, Washim – 44.6
degree Celsius.
The mercury is
expected to rise further in the next few days. The high temperature at this
stage has threatened people of Vidarbha of intense heat in May.
