Kolkata, 25 April (H.S.): Amid the ongoing assembly election campaign, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen in a distinctive style once again on Saturday. During a roadshow in support of Trinamool Congress candidate Chandrima Bhattacharya from the Dum Dum North constituency, she rode pillion on a party worker’s motorcycle, drawing attention from supporters and onlookers.
About five years ago, Banerjee had ridden an e-scooter to protest rising fuel prices. On that occasion, she had used an electric scooter belonging to state minister Firhad Hakim. This time, during the election campaign, she opted for a two-wheeler again while interacting with the public.
During the roadshow in Birati, Banerjee first arrived by car at a mini bus stand and walked a short distance. She later boarded a local party worker’s motorcycle and covered the remaining stretch, continuing her outreach among the people.
Her gesture impressed party workers and supporters, with large crowds gathering on both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of her. Supporters said the move once again highlighted her image as a grassroots leader.
Ahead of the second phase of polling, Banerjee and other TMC leaders have been extensively campaigning across districts, holding multiple rallies and roadshows in a single day to intensify the election drive.
