
Mau,
April 25 (HS): Five people died on the spot in a road accident on the
Barsaatpur Ahirani Highway in the Doharighat police station area of Mau
district, Uttar Pradesh, during wee hours. Police arrived on the information
and are investigating the matter. According to Superintendent of Police Kamlesh
Bahadur, a Scorpio vehicle (JH 21 G 3927) lost control, crossed into another
lane, and collided with an oncoming trailer (BR 28 GB 2171). The impact was so
severe that all five people in the Scorpio died on the spot. A pet dog in the
vehicle also perished in the accident. Following the incident, chaos erupted at
the scene, and a crowd of locals gathered.
Upon
receiving the information, Doharighat police arrived at the scene and began
rescue and relief operations. Police have taken possession of all the bodies
and sent them to Mau District Hospital for post-mortem, and necessary legal
action is being taken. The deceased have been identified as Vinay Srivastava
(53), his son Kritarth Srivastava (27), and his wife Archana Srivastava (48),
residents of Ranidiha, Khorabar police station, Gorakhpur district, and Ravindra
Yadav (20) and Purushottam Kumar (28), residents of Matihani, Mohanpur police
station, Gaya district (Bihar). The entire family was reportedly returning home
after attending their daughter's wedding in Ranchi when the accident occurred.
Police are informing the family of the incident and taking further action.
