Ayodhya, 2

April (HS): A 32-year-old lady and her infant reportedly died as a result of

medical negligence after a delivery was carried out by untrained personnel at a

private hospital here, with the doctor supervising the process over the phone,

officials and family members claimed on Thursday. Following an incident late

Tuesday night in Faizabad, the health authority quarantined the facility and

initiated an investigation. Suresh Yadav, a resident of Beniganj, claimed his

wife Soni Yadav was brought to Maa Parmeshwari Devi Memorial Hospital after

experiencing labor pains. The attending doctor, Anjali Shrivastava, first

advised them that her status was normal.

According

the family, the doctor was not present during the delivery, and the procedure

was performed by a staff member. The spouse said that the doctor coached this

staffer over the phone during the birth.

After

almost half an hour, personnel gave over the infant, stating that he was not

breathing. When we transported the infant to a neighboring doctor, he was

pronounced dead. When we returned, we were told that my wife's condition had

worsened. Suresh Yadav said that she was transported to another hospital and

proclaimed dead there. The family accused the hospital of gross negligence,

alleging that there was no trained doctor present during the birth. Following

reports, a team from the Health Department, led by Additional Chief Medical

Officer (ACMO) Dr Ashutosh Shrivastava, investigated the institution. During the

inspection, no doctor or trained medical personnel were present, and a guy

named Mahesh Singh, who claimed to be the hospital manager, was discovered

directing operations, according to the ACMO.

Three

women who had undergone caesarean sections were also hospitalized, and the

manager was responsible for their care, according to the ACMO. The hospital's

records were lacking, the doctor's qualifications were not provided, and

medical waste management was determined to be inadequate, he added. The

hospital has been shut, and all hospitalized patients have been transferred to

the district women's hospital. Further inquiry is continuing, and a FIR would

be filed if negligence is proved, according to the ACMO, who also stated that

the doctor is presently untraceable. Suresh Yadav stated that he married Soni,

a native of Mukimpur in Inayat Nagar, in April of last year, and that the

couple was expecting their first child. Our happiness has been destroyed as a

result of the hospital's incompetence, he stated, calling for stern punishment

against those involved.
