
Guwahati, 02 April (HS): In a major crackdown against mobile theft, Dispur Police in Assam’s capital city Guwahati busted a theft racket and arrested one accused in the Khanapara area under Dispur Police Station.
According to police sources, the arrested person has been identified as Sanjeev Singh. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police intercepted a vehicle (AS-01 HC-3288) and recovered 18 stolen mobile phones from his possession.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused may be part of a larger network involved in mobile phone theft and illegal trade in the region. It is suspected that the recovered phones were stolen from different locations.
Police have launched further investigation to trace other members of the racket and uncover the full extent of the operation. The action is part of an intensified drive by Dispur Police to curb rising cases of mobile theft and ensure public safety.---------------
