Bishwanath (Assam), 02 April (HS): One can gauge how emboldened criminals have become in Assam and how indifferent the Assam Police is from the fact that a sensational robbery took place in Bihali on the same day as the Prime Minister’s visit on Wednesday in the nearby area, triggering panic in the region. The incident occurred along National Highway No. 15 at Borgang under the Bihali constituency, where miscreants looted gold and silver jewellery.

According to reports, a five-member gang carried out the robbery in a dramatic, film-style manner. The robbers targeted the owner of Damini Jewellers while he was on his way to his residence in Milonpur. The gang, arriving on motorcycles, attacked the businessman and fired shots in the air using a pistol they were carrying.

The incident has created widespread sensation in the locality. Police have launched an investigation, but the culprits involved in the late evening robbery are yet to be traced.--------------
