
Nagpur, 14 Apr
(HS): Eight employees of the Nagpur’s Koradi Thermal Power Station suffered
burn injuries as steam and hot ash spilled from a boiler struck them. The staff
including three engineers and five workers suffered injuries and have been
shifted to a hospital in Nagpur. The incident occurred on Monday at Unit Number
10 of KTPS.
The injured have
been identified as Superintending Engineer Sachin Bhagewar, Additional
Executive engineer Vivek Patil, Technician Abdul Azhar Qazi, Bioler Maintenance
Engineer Tejas Sonwane and contractual workers Nikhil Jayatgude, Kamlesh Barmate,
Gulsingh Tikam and Vilas Bansod.
Bhagewar,
Sonwane, Bansod and Qazi were discharged after first aid, while four others are
being treated. The condition of two are stated to be critical.
The cleaning
work of Unit No. 10 was closed on Sunday evening for the maintenance work. A
big heap of hot ash fell from a height of about 13 meters on a stagnant water
near the seal trap. Which resulted in hot water mixed with ash spilling over
the workers engaged in the maintenance work.
No official
statement was issued by the KTPS authorities or other authorities.
