Bhubaneswar, 13 April (H.S.): A photo exhibition and signature campaign were organized at the state office in support of the proposed Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which aims to ensure 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.
The event was held in the backdrop of a special parliamentary session scheduled from April 16 to 18 to deliberate on the legislation. Addressing a gathering earlier at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of the Act, stating that it would strengthen women’s rights and participation in governance.
At the Bhubaneswar programme, members of the Mahila Morcha, social workers from various voluntary organisations, academicians, and college students gathered to watch the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address. A large number of women also extended their support by participating in a “missed call” campaign.
As part of the initiative, a photo exhibition showcasing prominent women achievers from Odisha and various women-centric welfare schemes was organized. These included schemes such as Subhadra Yojana, Mamata Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Mission Shakti, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Mahila E-Haat.
A signature campaign titled “Dhanyavad Modiji” was also conducted to express gratitude for these initiatives, with participation from a large number of women.
Among those present at the event were Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, State Mahila Morcha President Aishwarya Biswal, and senior social worker Sabita Ray, along with several other dignitaries.
