Nagpur, 05 Mar
(HS): Shiv Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde selected Jyoti
Waghmare as the party’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha. Against all political
predictions Shinde selected Waghmare, who is the party’s spokesperson in
Solapur. She is an aggressive worker of the party.
Technically Shiv
Sena gets only one seat, based on its strength. Waghmare’s selection comes as a
surprise to many leaders in the state, as ex-MP Rahul Shewale’s name was on the
forefront. From the beginning Waghmare effectively handled the party’s work
since formation of Eknath Shinde Group of Shiv Sena. She has been consistently
replying to the allegations made by UBT Sena leaders Sanjay Raut and Sushama
Andhare. She is known to be an aggressive, knowledgeate, and studious leader.
Waghmare’s
selection is considered to project a challenge for Congress MP from Solapur Praniti
Shinde. Before joining Shiv Sena, Waghmare had handled Praniti Shinde’s campaign
during earlier elections. She is an active member of Ambedkari movement. Her
father Nagnath Waghmare was an active worker of Dalit Panther. She holds a doctoral
degree in English and was a meritorious students throughout her academic
career.
