
Guwahati, 31 March (HS): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit Assam on Tuesday to campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections, as the state witnesses a steady influx of star campaigners from major political parties.
With the election compain intensifying, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have deployed their top leadership to bolster campaign efforts across the state. The arrival of prominent leaders has added momentum to the ongoing political activities.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is already in Assam for the unveiling of the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive later in the evening. His aircraft is expected to land at Dibrugarh Airport at 8:40 PM, where he will be received by state BJP president Dilip Saikia. The Prime Minister will stay overnight in Dibrugarh and is slated to campaign in the state on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is also expected to arrive in Assam on Wednesday. She will campaign in support of Congress and opposition alliance candidates, further intensifying the electoral battle in the state.----------
