31 Mar (HS): Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that that police
personnel who toiled to end Maoist movement under ‘C-60’ mission for three
years, will be honoured with the ‘C-60 Medal’. The Maoist Movement exists at a
negligible level in Maharashtra.
The
decision was taken during a half-yearly conference of Director General of
Police with senior police officers. Besides Fadnavis, Minister of State Pankaj
Bhoyar, and Yogesh Kadam, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, DG Sadanand Date,
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manisha Mhaiskar and senior police officers
were present.
Fadnavis
said a negligible number of Maoists area remaining in Gadchiroli district. The
democracy is strengthening roots in the developing Gadchiroli. Controlling its
reappearance is another challenge for the police. Fadnavis informed that 244
police personnel and 609 civilians lost their lives while controlling the
Maoist movement.
Using
modern technology for digitization of police machinery has been initiated. He
emphasised the need for ‘End to End’ digitization of crime detection and
judicial procedures for controlling crime and faster delivery of justice. A Standard
Operating System (SOP) and Road Map to increase conviction rate is being
prepared, he said.
