Amravati, 31 Mar (HS): Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Committee
has demanded that the schools in the Vidarbha should open on June 30, as per
directions of Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on June 7, 2007.
Even when the High Court Directions have not been overruled
or superseded, the Education Directorate on March 28, 2026, has announced
opening of schools in entire state on June 15.
The teachers’ organisation in a memorandum has
demanded schools in the Vidarbha region to review its decision, particularly
for the Vidarbha region. The summer scorch can be felt in the Vidarbha region
and schools in rural areas face power cuts, water scarcity and cannot provide
the required facilities for the students in the hot and humid climate. The
primary teachers are also engaged in the census related work affecting their
legitimate vacations.
The Committee has requested the School Education
Department to start the 2026-2027 academic session from June 30.
