
Guwahati, 31 March (HS): A significant amount of cash was seized by police during routine checking operations in Jalukbari and Basistha areas of Guwahati, officials said on Tuesday.
In Jalukbari, police recovered ₹25 lakh during a regular naka checking carried out jointly by the ACP of West Guwahati and Jalukbari Police. The cash was reportedly being transported by a person identified as Sagar Mall Buzarbaruah from Nalbari. During interrogation, the individual informed police that the money was intended for use in his personal pharmacy business.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Basistha, police seized bundled cash amounting to ₹4,66,800 during a checking drive conducted at Maikhuli. The cash was reportedly being carried by a woman belonging to the Manipuri community.
Basistha Police later handed over the recovered cash to the flying squad for further investigation. Officials stated that the source of the money is yet to be ascertained and further inquiry is underway.-----------
