Kaushambi,
29 March (HS): Police reported on Sunday that a mining inspector and his crew
were allegedly attacked by a fuel pump owner, personnel, and truck drivers
while conducting a check drive against overloaded sand-laden vehicles in the
Pipri region.
Around
11:30 p.m. on Saturday, three sand-laden trucks were diverted into the grounds
of a Bharat Petroleum fuel station in Kasenda village, while mining inspector
Shatrughan Singh and his colleagues were performing checks on vehicles carrying
minor minerals. According to Singh's complaint, when he attempted to obtain
documents related to the transported material, the petrol pump owner Anshu
Singh, manager Hariom, and employees Shivam Singh, Afghan, and Balwant, as well
as approximately a dozen unidentified individuals, allegedly attacked the
inspector, his team members, and their driver.
The attack
was pre-planned and executed in a coordinated way, resulting in major injuries
to the inspector, his assistants, and the driver, according to the complaint,
which also alleged that they managed to flee the scene to save their lives. According
to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar, a complaint has been filed against
five named defendants — the petrol pump owner, manager, and personnel — as well
as 12 unnamed people under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
(BNS). A medical report for the victims is awaited. He stated that further
