Indian
Philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Only Solution to Current Global Problems:
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay
Development
Without Morality Destructive; Integrating Technology with Human Values Essential:
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay
Kushinagar,
29 March (HS): Under the joint auspices of the World Organization of Students
and Youth (WoSY) and Meta, the 'Global Peace Dialogue' was organized today at
Kushinagar, the site of Lord Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana. The event witnessed the
participation of 180 student representatives from 26 countries. The program was
graced by Chief Guest Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education,
Government of Uttar Pradesh, along with special guests Prof. Shriprakash Mani
Tripathi, former Vice-Chancellor of Amarkantak University, renowned
educationist Prof. Ashwani Mohapatra, WoSY President Nitin Sharma, and General
Secretary Shubham Goyal.
Student
group had previously participated in a two-day Global AI Conclave
at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, where they received specialized
training. Following the conclave, the group arrived in Kushinagar to share a
message of peace and visited the Buddhist remains Kasia.
Chief
Guest Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the effort to bring international students
together on one platform is highly commendable. He emphasized that while the
world is currently entangled in numerous crises, these 180 representatives have
come to the land of peace as ambassadors. He remarked that if there is any
singular philosophy that can address global issues like environmental
degradation, poverty, malnutrition, and terrorism, it is 'Vasudhaiva
Kutumbakam'—the idea that the entire world is one family. He explained that
Indian philosophy seeks the welfare of all living beings, including animals and
nature, because everything from the individual to the universe is
interconnected. He further warned that while we discuss digital technology,
innovation, and Artificial Intelligence, these tools will become destructive if
they are not rooted in morality. Our goal should be to create a future, not
fear, and provide solutions rather than doubts by linking development with
ethical values.
Guest-of-honour
Prof. Shriprakash Mani Tripathi noted that this dialogue would provide a new
direction to the world, as the land of Buddha represents compassion and wisdom.
He mentioned that in the era of AI, Buddha’s 'Dhamma' teaches us that the heart
must accompany the intellect, and the youth should use technology solely for
the welfare of humanity.
Special
Guest Prof. Ashwani Mohapatra described the event as the start of a global
ideological revolution. He pointed out that while we have entered the age of AI
and have access to vast information, there is a visible lack of wisdom. He
believes the message of peace and co-existence from Kushinagar will serve as a
healing force amidst modern geopolitical instability. The event began with an
address by WoSY President Nitin Sharma and the vote of thanks was delivered by
General Secretary Shubham Goyal.
