Kolkata, 29 March (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samik Bhattacharya on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, raising concerns over the condition of farmers, workers and the common people.

In a post on social media platform X, Bhattacharya alleged that the situation of farmers in the state is extremely poor. He said when potato prices fall, farmers suffer losses, and when prices rise, common people face hardship. He further claimed that policies related to cold storage, market regulation and ensuring fair prices for farmers remain confined to paper, while middlemen continue to benefit.

He also questioned the state’s performance in industry and employment, alleging that no new industries are coming up and existing ones are shutting down. As a result, he said, the youth are being forced to migrate to other states in search of jobs. Taking a dig at schemes like “Duare Sarkar,” he said that despite extensive publicity, there is a lack of employment opportunities and stable income on the ground.

The BJP leader also leveled serious allegations of corruption against the state government. He claimed that recruitment scams, the culture of “cut money,” and misuse of administration have eroded public trust. He further accused the government of suppressing opposition voices.

Raising a series of questions, Bhattacharya asked why farmers are not getting fair prices for their produce, why the youth are compelled to leave the state for jobs, and why development is limited to promises.

He added that the people of West Bengal want transparency, accountability and real development, and that the demand for change is no longer just a slogan but has become a right of the people.
